YouTube is introducing an innovative feature to enhance the appeal of its Premium subscription. This new feature, currently in the testing phase in select countries, enables Premium users to share up to 10 ad-free videos with friends each month. This initiative allows non-Premium users to experience the benefits of ad-free viewing, albeit on a limited basis.
YouTube is continuously exploring different strategies to encourage users to switch to Premium subscriptions. The latest feature allows Premium subscribers to extend ad-free viewing privileges by sharing ad-free video links. However, there are certain restrictions to this feature. Each Premium subscriber is limited to creating 10 ad-free links per month, and each link can only be viewed up to 10 times.
This feature is exclusive to specific types of content and is not available for music videos, YouTube Originals, Shorts, live streams, and Films & Series.
The feature is integrated into the “Share Ad-Free” option on the sharing screen. Recipients must sign in to their YouTube accounts and use the mobile app to enjoy the ad-free experience. The shared links remain active for 30 days, after which they revert to the standard advertised mode once the 10-view limit is exhausted. Interestingly, if the ad-free link is shared with another Premium member, it does not count towards the monthly quota of 10 links.
While YouTube has not confirmed whether this feature will be rolled out to a broader audience, there are indications that its availability might be expanded in the future.
