Xiaomi’s venture into processor development began in 2017 with the introduction of the Pengpai S1, which was fabricated using the 28nm process. Over the subsequent years, the company has developed several specialized chips. However, this new initiative marks a pivotal moment as it represents the company’s first endeavor into a comprehensive, flagship-level system chip.
Details of the Upcoming Processor
Recent reports indicate that Xiaomi’s forthcoming processor will feature an octa-core structure, including one main Cortex X925 core operating at 3.2GHz, complemented by three 2.6GHz Cortex A725 cores and four 2.0GHz Cortex A520 cores. On the graphics front, the processor will be equipped with the Imagination IMG DXT72 GPU, capable of running at 1.3GHz. This GPU is expected to deliver performance that matches or surpasses the Adreno 740 GPU found in Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chip.
