WhatsApp is gearing up to roll out two eagerly anticipated features that promise to enrich the video calling experience on the platform. While these functionalities have been available on rival platforms like Google Meet and Zoom for some time, they are now making their debut on WhatsApp, much to the delight of its user base.
Introducing Emoji Reactions and Hand Raising
The latest beta version of WhatsApp (2.25.5.21) reveals that the messaging giant is keen on making video calls more engaging and interactive. Users will soon have the ability to send emoji reactions during video calls, allowing for instant feedback, and utilize a hand raising feature to signal their desire to speak without disrupting the ongoing conversation.
With emoji reactions, participants in a video call can express their feelings or reactions in real-time using one of six available emojis: a thumbs up, heart, smiling face, laughing face, surprised face, crying face, and the hands together gratitude emoji.
These enhancements are set to modernize WhatsApp’s video calling capabilities, making interactions more lively and engaging. Although these features have been a staple on platforms such as Zoom, Google Meet, and Signal, their arrival on WhatsApp, albeit delayed, is a significant and welcome development for its users.
