Riot Games’ much-anticipated mobile game, Valorant Mobile, has officially entered the pre-registration phase in China. Initially announced nearly four years ago, Valorant is now set to expand its competitive shooter experience to mobile platforms, aiming to become a leading title in the genre.
The mobile adaptation of the game is crafted by LightSpeed Studios, the same talented team behind the popular PUBG Mobile. Riot Games trusts that with their expertise, the dynamic and fast-paced nature of Valorant on PC will seamlessly translate to mobile devices. The brief gameplay footage shared with the community suggests that the mobile version captures the original’s pace and intensity remarkably well.
Considering the ever-growing popularity of mobile first-person shooters (FPS), the decision to develop a mobile version of Valorant is strategically sound. Titles like PUBG Mobile and Call of Duty: Warzone Mobile have demonstrated the vast potential within this market, boasting extensive player communities.
Valorant Mobile is expected to feature a comprehensive set of on-screen touch controls. However, this may not pose a significant challenge for players. Notably, the game was effectively adapted for the Xbox Series X/S and PlayStation 5 platforms in 2024, suggesting that mobile controls will not be a major hindrance in this transition.
The game will first undergo testing in China before its global release. Currently, Chinese players have the opportunity to pre-register for the upcoming testing phase. Although the official launch date remains undisclosed, it’s anticipated that pre-registrations will soon be available in additional regions.
