Bethesda Game Studios has announced a remarkable achievement for The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered, which was unveiled to the world on April 22nd. Within just the first four days of release, the game attracted over 4 million players.
Originally, Oblivion was a beloved title, having sold 3 million copies in its initial year. The remastered version’s inclusion in Game Pass has significantly bolstered its reach, contributing to its swift success.
This achievement comes after months of speculation, with leaks and rumors circulating since early this year. Several insiders had hinted that Bethesda would reveal the game in April. Despite the lack of active promotion from Bethesda, the launch on Tuesday was met with fervent excitement from the Elder Scrolls fanbase.
In a collaborative effort with Virtuos, the remake showcases substantial enhancements to visual fidelity. Every asset has been meticulously redesigned, and the world of Cyrodiil has been reconstructed to align with current-generation graphical standards. While retaining the original game’s core essence, the remake introduces gameplay improvements, particularly in combat mechanics and character movement.
The remastered edition has also set a new benchmark for the series on Steam, achieving the highest concurrent player record for any Elder Scrolls entry. The peak concurrent player count reached an impressive 190,119 players ahead of the weekend, with expectations of this number rising further.
