Prudential Singapore has enhanced its healthcare offerings through a strategic partnership with Thomson Medical Centre (TMC). This collaboration, effective from April 1, integrates over 100 medical specialists into Prudential’s existing network, PRUPanel Connect.
Under this partnership, policyholders with Prudential’s Integrated Shield Plan (IP) can now access specialists at TMC across a diverse range of disciplines, including obstetrics, gynecology, pediatrics, and general surgery. This integration expands the total number of specialists in Prudential’s panel to over 1,700, covering more than 30 specialties.
Prudential has established a dedicated customer support concierge at TMC, available on weekdays to assist policyholders with inquiries about their insurance plans. Moreover, financial advisers are on-site to offer guidance on coverage and financial planning.
Policyholders with specific IP rider plans such as PRUExtra Premier CoPay, PRUExtra Preferred CoPay, and PRUExtra Premier2 can benefit from additional services. These include an electronic Letter of Guarantee (eLOG) facility providing up to S$30,000 coverage at hospital admission, thus eliminating the need for upfront payments. Additionally, fast-tracked specialist appointments are available on a best-effort basis.
Dr. Sidharth Kachroo, Prudential Singapore’s Chief Health Officer, emphasized the company’s dedication to adapting to evolving healthcare demands. “This collaboration is a significant step in our commitment to making healthcare more accessible, ensuring a seamless experience, and providing greater value to our customers,” he stated.
A comparative study by MDRi, involving 1,000 participants from Singapore and Hong Kong, revealed that 90% of Singaporeans have some form of health coverage, compared to 81% in Hong Kong. Furthermore, nearly half of Singapore’s population holds private medical insurance, as opposed to 36% in Hong Kong.
Thomson Medical Singapore’s CEO, Lee Suen Ming, highlighted the hospital’s expanded service offerings. “We have significantly broadened our medical expertise beyond obstetrics, gynecology, and pediatrics to include orthopedics, general surgery, urology, oncology, and ophthalmology. Our partnership with Prudential gives patients access to a comprehensive range of specialties that support the health journey of families. We are eager to work with Prudential to empower their community and support future generations,” he said.
Beyond provider partnerships, Prudential offers programs for long-term health management. Customers in its Chronic Care Management Programmes receive services for conditions like diabetes, high cholesterol, hypertension, and mental health. Singapore citizens may also be eligible for home-based vaccinations for children and seniors at no charge.
New policyholders of select IP rider plans are eligible for one-time complimentary health screenings. Other benefits include transport-related subsidies, such as GrabGift or parking vouchers, for inpatient and day surgery visits under the panel.
Prudential also employs a claims-based pricing system to encourage healthy lifestyles. Customers who do not file claims during a review period may receive future premium discounts, and those utilizing panel specialists may enjoy stable premium levels at renewal.
