An Australian airline flight, en route from Bali in Indonesia to Melbourne, had to make an unplanned return after a passenger attempted to open an aircraft door while flying over the Indian Ocean.
The airline’s statement revealed that the incident occurred on the night of Monday, March 31st. “A passenger attempted to open one of the aircraft’s doors and engaged in disruptive behavior towards our crew,” the statement read.
The passenger was subsequently removed from the flight by local authorities upon landing back in Bali.
A video circulating on social media shows a woman lifting the door handle, which triggered a warning alert that notified the crew of the potential danger.
According to Flightradar24, a flight tracking website, the aircraft performed a turnaround above the Indian Ocean approximately an hour into the flight.
Details regarding the exact number of passengers and crew members present on the flight have not been disclosed.
