Opera has taken a significant step forward by introducing the Aria AI assistant to its Opera Mini app for Android devices. This development marks a pivotal moment in Opera’s mission to make artificial intelligence experiences more accessible globally, particularly in emerging markets like Africa.
Jørgen Arnesen, Executive Vice President of Opera Mobile, commented on the integration of Aria AI with Opera Mini: “AI is swiftly becoming a core component of the everyday internet experience. Adding Aria to Opera Mini is a logical progression for our most downloaded browser. With Aria, our built-in AI, we are thrilled to explore how AI can further enhance the features our users depend on daily.”
Aria AI offers users a variety of functionalities, such as providing up-to-date information from the web, assisting with research and skill acquisition, summarizing online content, and creating visuals—all directly within the browser. Powered by technology from OpenAI and Google AI, Aria runs on Opera’s Composer AI engine. Its rendering capabilities are enhanced by Google Imagen3.
Importantly, Opera has ensured that the integration of Aria AI into the Opera Mini app does not increase the app’s size. Moreover, the assistant is optimized to conserve data usage, making it ideal for users in regions where data costs are a concern. The Opera Mini browser is available for download on the Google Play Store.
