Microsoft has broadened the availability of its Copilot+ features, initially launched last year, to now include systems powered by AMD and Intel processors. Originally exclusive to Snapdragon processor-equipped devices, these features are now accessible on systems featuring Ryzen AI 300 and Intel Core Ultra 200V (Lunar Lake) processors.
The Copilot+PC program, first revealed on May 20, 2024, was initially compatible only with Qualcomm’s ARM-based Snapdragon chips. However, Microsoft has since extended these capabilities to AMD and Intel processors. Newly supported systems comprise AMD’s Strix Point and Kraken-based Ryzen AI 300 series, as well as Intel’s Lunar Lake-based Core Ultra 200V models. Notably, Intel’s Arrow Lake series also includes NPUs, but they fall short of the requirements for Copilot+PC certification.
Interestingly, Microsoft has not yet mentioned support for AI MAX+, despite the Ryzen AI 300 series and Core Ultra 200V sharing the XDNA2 processor, yet they remain excluded from these specifications.
Currently, Microsoft offers the following Copilot+PC features on AMD and Intel systems:
Conversely, the contentious Recall software remains unavailable, and Microsoft has not provided an explanation for its absence.
According to Intel and AMD, laptops already on the market are expected to receive Copilot+ certification. However, details on the timeline for this rollout have not been disclosed.
