Chinese electric vehicle manufacturer Leapmotor is making significant strides in the EV market by expanding its lineup. At the 2025 Shanghai International Auto Show, the company unveiled a range of all-electric and range-extended models. However, the spotlight was on the Leapmotor B01, an electric sedan designed to captivate younger audiences with its competitive pricing and technologically advanced interior.
The Leapmotor B01 is part of the brand’s ambitious new global B-Class initiative, which aims to penetrate the largest car market segments with a series of SUV and sedan models. By the close of 2025, this initiative will include the newly launched Leapmotor B01, along with two other models, the B10 and B05.
Built on Leapmotor’s cutting-edge LEAP 3.5 technology platform, the B01 promises a superior cockpit experience and state-of-the-art intelligent driving features. Buyers can opt between two electric motor variants that offer a maximum power output of 132 kW (177 horsepower) and 160 kW (215 horsepower), respectively.
Regarding battery options, the base model is equipped with a 56.2 kWh battery, boasting a range of approximately 510 km according to the Chinese CLTC test cycle. The more robust 67.1 kWh battery extends this range to about 600 km, though these figures tend to be more optimistic compared to international standards like WLTP or EPA.
The Leapmotor B01 is available in eight distinct exterior colors, including an exclusive “Morgan Pink,” alongside two interior color schemes. The interior showcases a sizable 14.6-inch touchscreen that manages vehicle functions and the entertainment system, supported by over-the-air software updates (OTA) to ensure functionality remains current.
The sedan’s pricing in China is expected to fall between 12,000 to 18,000 euros, offering exceptional value. Leapmotor has set an ambitious monthly sales target of 40,000 units for the B01.
While Leapmotor has entered a partnership with Stellantis to break into the European market, with plans to introduce six different electric models by 2027, the Leapmotor B01’s arrival in Europe is still uncertain. However, the partnership reflects Leapmotor’s commitment to global expansion and innovation in the electric vehicle sector.
