J.S. Held, a renowned global consulting firm known for its blend of technical, scientific, financial, and strategic expertise, has announced a key leadership transition. Lee Spirer, currently serving as the company’s President and Chief Operating Officer (COO), is set to step into the role of Chief Executive Officer (CEO) as Jonathon Held plans to step down from this position.
Effective from the start of the second quarter of 2025, this planned succession will see Held transition to the role of Executive Chairman of the Board of Directors. In this capacity, he will continue to provide strategic oversight, aiming to optimize value creation and steer the company towards sustained growth. Additionally, Held will engage more directly with clients, offering his expertise in strategic advisory and dispute resolution consulting, primarily within the insurance sector.
Commenting on the transition, Steve Dutton, Partner at Kelso & Company—J.S. Held’s private equity partner—remarked, “Working collaboratively with Jon and the executive team, Lee Spirer was recruited to seamlessly facilitate Jon’s transition to the Executive Chairman role.”
Jon Held expressed his confidence in the new appointment, stating, “Lee Spirer’s extensive experience and proven capability to drive strategy focused on financial results and operational excellence make him the ideal leader to guide our team through the next phase of growth.
As we embark on our sixth decade of service, I am enthusiastic about this new era for J.S. Held. I look forward to partnering with Lee to further our mission and vision for the company, benefiting all our stakeholders—team members, clients, and investors.”
