In a significant move within the tech industry, renowned manufacturers are gradually extending advanced artificial intelligence capabilities to more budget-friendly smartphones. This trend marks a shift from the traditional focus on flagship devices. Recently, Honor and Google have joined forces to make sophisticated AI technologies accessible to a wider audience, particularly targeting the lower-end market segment.
The collaboration was unveiled at the prestigious Google Cloud Next 2025 event. Honor’s new range of economically priced smartphones will now feature advanced AI functionalities, thanks to the integration with Google Cloud infrastructure. This partnership is built on the foundation of Google’s cutting-edge tools, such as Imagen.
Among the innovative features included in this offering is AI Outpainting. This tool enables users to expand their photos by up to two times, seamlessly filling in complex backgrounds with realistic details, whether they are skyscrapers or natural landscapes like mountains. This is achieved with the support of Google Imagen technology.
Another feature, AI Eraser, provides users the capability to remove unwanted objects from their photos without affecting the surrounding areas. Once again, Google Imagen is instrumental in delivering these results. Additionally, AI Upscale enhances the overall quality of photos.
These advanced AI features will be initially available on the Honor 400 Lite smartphone, setting a new standard for what consumers can expect from budget-friendly devices.
