Google has significantly revamped Gmail’s security framework to enhance protection for its vast user base of 3 billion people. This update introduces cutting-edge features like real-time sign-in alerts, advanced phishing detection, and AI-powered anomaly scanning to bolster account security.
The new Gmail update will closely monitor login behavior in real-time. Should a user attempt to log in from an unfamiliar location or device, a push notification will be sent with the query, “Is this login you?”. If the login remains unverified, Gmail will automatically lock the account to prevent unauthorized access.
Additionally, Gmail now includes an AI-based filter to combat phishing attacks. This filter will proactively identify and neutralize malicious links and fraudulent attempts in emails before the user opens them. In a bid to thwart banking scams, SSL certificate verification is now a mandatory aspect of email security.
