As Apple gears up for the launch of its much-anticipated iPhone 17 series later this year, fresh insights are surfacing about what to expect. There’s both encouraging and disappointing news regarding the memory specifications of this new lineup.
The iPhone 17 Series: A RAM Revolution?
Renowned Apple analyst, Ming-Chi Kuo, has revealed that Apple is diligently working to integrate 12 GB of RAM into every model of the iPhone 17 series. This marks a potential improvement from the iPhone 16 lineup, which was equipped with 8 GB of memory across the board.
Intriguingly, Apple aims to offer the iPhone 17 Air—set to rival Samsung’s Galaxy S25 Edge—also with 12 GB of RAM. However, not all models in the series will share this upgrade. Due to supply chain constraints, the standard iPhone 17 model may lag behind its siblings in terms of RAM.
Apple is expected to finalize its decision regarding the memory capacity for the standard model by the conclusion of this month. Consequently, while the iPhone 17 Pro, 17 Pro Max, and 17 Air are likely to feature 12 GB of RAM, the standard iPhone 17 might remain at 8 GB. It is essential, however, to view these details as speculative until Apple releases an official statement.
Looking further ahead, it’s anticipated that the entire iPhone 18 lineup—set for release in 2026—will standardize on 12 GB of RAM.
