Funcom has officially announced a slight delay in the launch of Dune: Awakening. Originally slated for release on May 20, 2025, the new launch date is now set for June 10, 2025. However, players who have purchased the deluxe edition will gain earlier access on June 5, 2025.
Dune: Awakening immerses players in the beloved universe of Dune, specifically on the desert planet Arrakis. It offers a unique twist by exploring an alternate timeline. In this narrative, the Fremen have mysteriously vanished, Paul Atreides was never born, and Lady Jessica has a daughter instead. Players begin their journey as captives brought to Arrakis, learning to harness ‘desert power’ and ultimately rising as influential agents for either House Atreides or House Harkonnen.
Players can currently access a character creator, released in February, which allows them to design their hero and undertake the Gom Jabbar test. This feature ensures that players can seamlessly transition their characters into the full game upon its release. Initially, Dune: Awakening will be available exclusively on Steam starting June 10th. While future releases for PS5 and Xbox Series X/S are planned, specific dates for these platforms have yet to be announced.
