Dune: Awakening, the much-anticipated game combining open-world exploration with massive multiplayer survival, has experienced a minor delay. Originally slated for a May 20, 2025 release, fans will now have to wait until June 10, 2025. However, there’s a silver lining for those who opt for the Deluxe or Ultimate editions, as they will gain early access starting June 5, 2025.
The developers at Funcom explained the rationale behind the postponement in a recent social media post. The Permanent Closed Beta test is currently underway, and consistent updates are being implemented based on player feedback. This input is deemed critical to ensuring a polished launch. Funcom shared, “This is not a decision we’ve taken lightly. Although the anticipation is high, these additional weeks will allow us to make improvements, ensuring a better experience from day one. We’re also thrilled to host a significant beta weekend next month, offering more players a chance to explore and provide feedback. Details will follow shortly.”
Set against the backdrop of an alternate history, Dune: Awakening invites players back to the perilous deserts of Arrakis. Here, spice remains the most coveted resource, propelling political intrigue, spice trade, and warfare—all central to the game’s dynamics. Players will encounter familiar characters, form alliances, and engage in strategic battles for dominance. Funcom promises this title to be a landmark entry for the franchise, blending narrative depth with immersive gameplay. As June approaches, anticipation builds to see if the game meets its ambitious promises.
