The celebrated Dune series, which has gained significant traction due to its cinematic adaptations, is set to make waves in the gaming world with its newest installment. Dune: Awakening, inspired by Frank Herbert’s iconic science fiction saga, promises to captivate gamers, albeit a tad later than initially planned.
Crafted by the creative minds at Funcom, known for their work on Conan Exiles, Dune: Awakening was originally slated for a May 20th launch. However, recent announcements from Funcom reveal a revised release date of June 10th. This strategic postponement is intended to refine the game further, utilizing valuable feedback from the closed beta trials to enhance overall gameplay.
To compensate for the delay, Funcom is hosting an exclusive “beta weekend” in May, offering players a sneak peek into the immersive world of Dune: Awakening.
Dune: Awakening is envisioned as a survival MMO set against the backdrop of Arrakis, the infamous desert planet pivotal to the Dune narrative. Players will embark on a quest for survival amidst Arrakis’s harsh landscapes, exploring its vast terrains while seeking the invaluable spice, melange, that drives the universe’s economy.
