French President Emmanuel Macron is set to engage in pivotal discussions with U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio and U.S. Special Envoy Steve Witkoff in Paris tomorrow. The primary focus of these talks will be on collaborative efforts to resolve the ongoing conflict in Ukraine.
Despite promises of a swift ceasefire by U.S. President Donald Trump, tangible progress has remained elusive. However, Special Envoy Witkoff has indicated that after his third meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin, a potential peace agreement is beginning to take shape.
During his European diplomatic tour, Secretary of State Rubio is also anticipated to engage in discussions with French Foreign Minister Jean-Noel Barrot. The agenda will cover the Ukraine conflict, developments in the Middle East, and Iran’s nuclear ambitions. This marks Rubio’s third diplomatic mission to Europe since assuming his office.
Simultaneously, French Defense Minister Sebastien Lecornu will be in Washington, D.C., engaging with senior officials, including U.S. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth and Trump’s special envoy to Ukraine, Keith Kellogg. The discussions will encompass key issues such as Ukraine, Iran, and the escalating situation in Gaza.
