The developers at Bloober Team, renowned for their prowess in crafting horror-themed video games, have unveiled their latest project, Cronos: The New Dawn. Following the success of the Silent Hill 2 Remake, this new title was announced during the Xbox Partner Preview in October. The game is set to deliver a captivating narrative woven into a world where Eastern European grit meets retro-futuristic technology.
The Gameplay Overview
The recently released two-minute gameplay trailer highlights several intriguing elements, notably its combat mechanics and creature designs. A standout feature is the necessity to incinerate defeated enemies, preventing them from amalgamating with others to form more formidable foes with enhanced abilities. These mechanics evoke memories of the Dead Space series’ limb-severing tactics and the flashlight mechanics from Alan Wake, with a hint of inspiration drawn from the Resident Evil series. While the game does not yet have a confirmed release date, it is anticipated to launch on PC (Steam), PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series platforms later this year.
The Storyline
Set on the precipice of both past and future, Cronos: The New Dawn will transport players back to the past, amidst a cataclysmic event known as The Change, which irrevocably altered humanity. The game’s future timeline unfolds in the wasteland, where survival against perilous anomalies is the primary goal. Players will assume the role of a Traveler, affiliated with the enigmatic Collective organization. Their mission: to explore the desolate wasteland, seeking specific time rifts that will transport them to 1980s Poland.
