The number of victims associated with Zhenhao Zou, a Chinese PhD student recently convicted of multiple crimes in London, might be significantly higher than initially reported. Zou was found guilty on 10 counts of rape, as well as drugging and assaulting women in the capital of England.
In the aftermath of his conviction, the Metropolitan Police received reports from 23 additional women who suspect they may have also been assaulted by Zou.
Zou, aged 28, was proven guilty of raping three women in London and seven in China, during the period from 2019 to 2024. Evidence in the form of videotaped recordings of most assaults played a crucial role in the court’s decision.
Administered Drugs to His Victims
According to police investigations, there are 58 videos showing Zou assaulting women, many of whom have not yet been identified.
Metropolitan Police Commander Kevin Southworth commented, “The emergence of 23 additional victims within a month of our public appeal underscores the gravity of these offenses.” Authorities have indicated that some of the new complainants are based outside London, including regions in North and South America, as well as Europe.
The court was presented with video evidence depicting many of Zou’s victims in a state of unconsciousness or disorientation due to the drugs he had administered. These recordings reportedly moved jurors to tears. Zou would lure women to his residence under the guise of socializing over drinks before committing the assaults.
