Apple is gearing up for a monumental leap with its forthcoming iPhone 17 lineup, slated for debut this September. Amongst the excitement is the introduction of a brand-new model that will redefine Apple’s offerings. Rumor has it that a model dubbed the iPhone 17 Air will take the place of the traditional Plus variant. Recently, mock-up images of both the iPhone 17 and iPhone 17 Air surfaced in a store in China, offering a glimpse into the future.
The iPhone 17 Air is poised to become the slimmest iPhone ever crafted by Apple. The leaked mock-up images reveal a significantly more compact device, featuring a horizontally aligned camera module on its rear. Within this sleek bar resides a single camera sensor, alongside an LED flash and a microphone. Notably, the iPhone 17 Air will forego the LiDAR scanner and additional cameras found in its Pro counterparts.
While the exact dimensions of the iPhone 17 Air remain a mystery, reports suggest it will boast a thickness of just 5.5 mm. Intriguingly, it is expected to match the screen size and overall chassis dimensions of the iPhone 17 Pro Max. In the background of the images, prototypes of the standard and Pro versions of the iPhone 17 are also visible.
As for the iPhone 17 Air, questions linger regarding its battery capacity and cooling mechanisms. Renowned Apple supply chain analyst Ming-Chi Kuo anticipates the device to be equipped with the standard A19 chip, Dynamic Island, a single rear camera, and an Apple-designed 5G modem. Additional rumors suggest an aluminum frame, Face ID, a 48MP rear camera, a 24MP front camera, and 8GB of RAM, optimized for Apple Intelligence.
