AMD is poised to extend its recent success from the desktop arena into the notebook sector with its upcoming RDNA 4-based Radeon RX 9000M series. Recent leaks have unveiled some exciting details about these new GPUs, which are anticipated to debut at Computex 2025 with a lineup of six distinct models.
Leaked Specifications: The top-tier model, the Radeon RX 9080M, is expected to be the flagship of this series, boasting 64 RDNA 4 Compute Units (CUs) and a total of 4,096 stream processors, complemented by 16 GB of memory. This setup mirrors the desktop variant, the RX 9070 GRE, closely.
The RX 9070M XT model is designed to offer robust performance at a more accessible price, featuring 48 CUs and 12 GB of memory. It targets users seeking a high-performance solution without breaking the bank.
Further down the lineup, the RX 9070M and RX 9070S models will sport 32 CUs, equating to 2,048 cores, while the RX 9060M and RX 9060S are tailored for the entry-to-mid-level segment, equipped with 1,792 cores and 8 GB of memory.
Notably, the variants bearing the “S” suffix will be optimized for lower power consumption, making them ideal for energy-efficient laptops.
As per reports, AMD is planning a significant announcement during Computex 2025, where the RX 9000M series will take center stage. Should AMD replicate the price-to-performance ratio it achieved in the desktop sector on these mobile solutions, it could potentially gain a competitive edge over rivals like Nvidia.
While the preliminary specifications of the Radeon RX 9000M series appear promising, the ultimate performance will hinge on factors such as energy efficiency and cooling capabilities, particularly in portable devices like laptops.
