The beloved Alfa Romeo Stelvio, a favorite in the SUV category, is gearing up for a major overhaul with its next-generation model. This highly anticipated iteration will feature a completely fresh design, innovative power units, and notably, a new platform known as STLA Large. While the model has previously been spotted undergoing cold weather testing, recent leaked patent images offer a more comprehensive glimpse of the upcoming design.
The classic Alfa Romeo shield emblem remains a focal point of the front design, but a notable change is the repositioning of the brand logo to sit atop the bonnet, an update that aligns with the brand’s approach on the new Junior model. The sleek, new daytime running lights are indicative of Alfa Romeo’s evolving design language. Additional design elements include sporty air intakes on either side of the bonnet, as well as a repositioned license plate holder, now centrally located on the bumper, as previously promised.
At the rear, the transformation is marked by the introduction of inverted triangle-shaped taillights, a feature that was previewed in last year’s teaser images. This distinctive taillight design, expected to be shared with the upcoming Alfa Romeo Giulia, extends seamlessly across the trunk lid and wraps around to the sides. Below the tailgate, contrasting bumper inserts enhance the vehicle’s muscular and robust aesthetic. Overall, the new Alfa Romeo Stelvio appears poised to adopt a more modern and assertive design language compared to its predecessors.
The next-generation Stelvio will be constructed on Stellantis group’s STLA Large platform, which debuted with the new Dodge Charger. This platform transition will introduce both all-electric and hybrid powertrains, although specific details have yet to be officially confirmed. Expectations suggest that the all-electric variant may employ a dual-motor layout, delivering power outputs of 503 hp and 680 hp, similar to the Dodge Charger Daytona. Additionally, the Stelvio could incorporate the 3.0-liter inline-six Hurricane engine, found in other Stellantis group models, offering power outputs of 420 hp and 550 hp.
The official reveal of the next-generation Alfa Romeo Stelvio is anticipated in the coming months, promising a blend of innovation and performance for enthusiasts and potential buyers alike.
